Purina Puppy Food
We feed Purina for Large Breed Puppies until our pups are at least one year of age. The formula we choose varies based on the individual needs of the pup. Below are links to each kibble formula:
Purina One for Large Breed Puppies - 31.1 lb bag
Purina One for Large Breed Puppies - 40 lb bag
(Purina One is what your pup is usually on at the time of pickup)
Purina Pro Plan for Large Breed Puppies
(highest quality ingredients, similar nutrition to Purina One)
Dog Treats
Our number one rule for packaged dog treats is that they be made in the USA with quality ingredients. We have used a variety of treats, and some of our dogs' favorites are shown below:
Grooming
Grooming done regularly or as needed only requires basic tools; however, we also keep high quality clippers on hand for the occasional matted rags behind ears, under tail, around the collar caused by spring shedding (note - we do NOT shave our dogs, only remove mats that can't be brushed out). See below:
Arm & Hammer Puppy & Dog Shampoo
Oster Clippers and Blade Care Spray

Collars & Leashes
We prefer flat collars with a safety lock buckle for everyday use around the farm, and a strong 4-6 ft leash. For increased control, we also use a double-handled leash for the ease of switching from a long lead to short lead.
Nylon collar with safety buckle
Quick Release Pinch Training Collar
(for use in obedience training sessions with dogs tending to pull or ignore the handler - collar requires precise handling technique)
Special Situations:
Harness, Halter
A harness does little to help with leash training, as the standard style does not discourage pulling. We use a harness to have an extra handle when transporting puppies or long distance.
Dogs with collar sensitivity or pulling usually do well with halter training. They can often be changed back to a collar after a short time.
